Rare and elegant pair of gilt and chiseled bronze sconces with "bearing angels".
The latter, dear to Pierre-Philippe Thomire, which he used for the design of the famous sconces in the Emperor's bedroom and living room at Fontainebleau. André-Antoine Ravrio, Claude Galle and Pierre Chibout also took up this model.
Here, the angel's hands reach over to raise a large crown that serves as a perch for a trio of imperial eagles. Each of the divine raptors dominating its own direction, like watchmen of life.
Very beautiful original gilding, with wear to the binets. Nice matte and gloss work.
Undrilled, completely original.
Empire-Consulat period.
As with all of my art objects and furniture, I am very careful to be able to offer them to you at a very low expert estimate.
My objects are photographed naturally, without going through a photo studio. Because of this, you can enjoy them as they really are.
