Empire period armchair in molded and carved mahogany, the back slightly in a gondola with a cornice, the front feet carved with a lion's head monopod with bronze patina ending in claw foot, the posterior feet in saber. The gallery armrests emerge from the backrest by a lotus flower, adorned with a carved and gilded palmette.
Storm blue silk trim with iconic Empire flowers and stars, in excellent condition.
The shape of the armchair, added to the characteristic sculptures of lions, claws and palmettes, makes it easy to attribute this very beautiful armchair to Jacob-Desmalter around 1810 without much difficulty.
Note that it is very likely that the Jacob D rue Meslée stamp is present, the belt being carefully covered with a trim that I did not want to damage.

An identical armchair, stamped Jacob D rue Meslée is presented in the book "Sièges en société, Histoire du Siege du Roi-Soleil à Marianne", RMN, Gourcuff Gradenigo, 2017, p. 199.

Some marks of use, good quality Cuban mahogany.
