Rare clock from the Empire-Consulat period, in bronze with antique green patina and gilded bronze representing Artemis in the Etruscan style.
It takes the form of a divinatory urn or a small antique temple decorated with a rich ornamentation of gilded bronze sconces: cornucopias, swan, crown of eggs and ribbons. On the sides, a sword surmounted by an anthemion surrounded by foliage overhangs a laurel wreath also encircled by foliage.
The set rests on four generous leonine feet and, particularity of this clock, on the feet of Artemis.
The rectangular base hosts decorations of large palmettes, rosettes and foliage.
Very beautiful original gilding. Bronzes of great finesse of carving.
Excellent state of conservation.
Overhauled by an art watchmaker.
An entire page is devoted to this very beautiful and rare clock in the reference work: La pendule française by Pierre Kjellberg, p 383
